I used to make and perform physical theatre, worldwide. Now, I am focussing on writing, making new music and  performances, and available as a performer for others. Then, in March 2020, COVID intervened. Now we emerge, but first the history ...

Ralf Ralf

Ralf Ralf was a performance duo I formed with my brother Barnaby, touring worldwide to over 30 countries to festivals, dance and theatre venues 1986- 2006. Our award winning show, THE SUMMIT, involving much physical comedy, invented languages and gesture and song was a satire on political summits and male behaviour in political negotiations. Our first show, THE HOUR was made in 1986 and toured Europe. Our other shows, ITS STARING YOU RIGHT IN THE FACE was made in 1995 shown in numerous place including the Royal Court and Theater das Welt, US BOYS WE MULTITASK at BAC in 2003. I always hoped we would perform together again but now that will no longer be possible; Barnaby had a severe stroke nearly 3 years ago and never recovered. He died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Monday 27th February 2023.

In 1990, I made Dinner, with 6 performers from six different countries coming together on stage.

Dinner evolved out of the work  Ralf Ralf did with rhythm invented language and movement.
The original performers were Randolph Curtis Rand (USA), Pilar Álamo (Puerto Rico), Marcela Kingman (Chile) Miqueias Paz (Brazil), Sharon Mack (Scotland) and Luc Favrou (France). Each performer evolved their own invented language for the performance; developing distinct characters and possible languages. Much of the work involved learning and working within rhythmic and choreographic structures, so the performers had to work as actors, dancers and musicians.

Hot Mouth

After Dinner, when I moved to New York City, during the early nineties, I collaborated with other New York dancers and singers, Grisha Coleman, Viola Sheely and David Thomson on making Hot Mouth. We all brought our varied talents and abilities to bring Grisha Coleman's gorgeous acapella show Hot Mouth into existence. I contributed some songs and many arrangements to the group. We had a lot of fun mixing our various skills, energy and occasional wayward tuning to make this happen! it was produced by the Foundry Theatre.
